Meditation in Motion
Meditating by definition does not require sitting still or lying down. We can Meditate even when we are walking, eating, drinking, and engaging in sports. But there is one condition: we must be present, alert and focus on the activity itself. The activity itself becomes the object of Meditation and we try to become totally one with what we are doing. When our thoughts wander away, we return to the activity itself. When we undertake activities with complete awareness instead of thoughtlessness, we will see that the character of the activity changes completely. The most well-known motion Meditations are Tai Chi, Chi Neng and the walking Meditations derived from the teachings of Zen. These Meditations are not only excellent exercises to strengthen our body and our mind, but they also make it easier for us to be more present in our ordinary daily lives. In this section, you will be acquainted with various walking meditations. We will give you an introduction to Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Chi Neng, the ABC-of-Yoga and an eating Meditation. At the same time, we will teach you how to undertake daily activities in a Meditative manner.
