Meditation - Examination of Thoughts and Emotions
In this category of exercises, we learn to understand the nature of our problems and the workings of our mind. We observe and get an insight into the emotional content of our thoughts, the effects on our body and we get an insight into the way they are connected with other recurring thoughts. These exercises are a bit more difficult than the exercises of the observation meditations. We expand our attention more to all aspects of ourselves and our surroundings. The ultimate aim is that we get better and better at being completely present and in the NOW at all times and at all places.

Give your Thoughts a Name Meditation
This exercise is almost like the Flame Meditation but the main difference is that once you meditate on one object, you give it a name, setting aside its content again. You are able to meditate without dwelling on the good or bad content of your thoughts.

Examine your Thoughts Meditation
We already gave a name to our Meditation. After doing so, a lot of thoughts will probably enter your mind. Don't worry. That's okay. Just don't think about the content of your thoughts. Then, slowly connect all your thoughts altogether and observe what it says about how your mind operates.

Our minds can sometimes be rather complicated but if we know how to control them, we are able to observe how our mind works, how we can examine our own thoughts and emotions. We go further to who we really are because we are able to know more of ourselves, at the same time, reducing any stress or tension that we are feeling. Meditation not only relaxes you but also helps you get to know yourself better.
