Meditation - Steps to Learn How to Meditate
MONDAY, 25 JANUARY 2010
We are already aware of the many studies show that mediation can improve your health. Now your next step is to learn how to properly meditate in a way that you can benefit your health.
With a little patience you can learn a technique that can be helpful even if you are a beginner. This technique will help you concentrate on the part of your body you wish to be in tune with. At first it might be difficult because you were never taught to concentrate on yourself. But eventually with practice you will be able to succeed at meditating for your health.
Let's start by concentrating on our breathing and once you learn this simple technique you can use it for other areas of your body.
First Step: Choose a sitting position that you will be comfortable in without moving. You do not need to sit like the yogis; just sit comfortably.
Second Step: Be aware of your breath. Close your eyes and breathe normally and notice the rhythm of your breath. Listen to the sound your breath does. Be completely in tune of your body breathing motion and how your breath goes in and out. Just sit quietly doing this exercise for about five minutes.
Third Step: After a few concentrating on your breath now switch to your thoughts. Take a notice what your thought are concentrating on. Be an observant of yourself. Treat it as if you trying to listen to someone else's thoughts. You want to be aware of your thought process and not in just one thought.
Fourth Step: Notice every little need in your body; if your hair is on top of your ear then try to feel how the hair rubs on your ear and how it feels on your skin. Slowly shift your awareness to your breathing and try to stay concentrated in your breathing.
