The Power of Forgiveness
WEDNESDAY, 23 DECEMBER 2009
Want to explore the promises and challenges of experiencing forgiveness, and the relationship of forgiveness to emotional, spiritual, physical and social health?
Rev. Jacki Belile, C.E.C., certified empowerment coach and ordained American Baptist minister, will present the film, The Power of Forgiveness, as part of Thousand Waves’ “Meditations on Activism” lecture series. Following the film, attendees can participate in a brief, silent meditation before refreshments and discussion. Discussion topics, led by Rev. Belile, include responses to the film as well as reflections and questions from collective experiences of systemic and random violence. The lecture will delve into the connection between forgiveness, nonviolence and the sustained activism that heals lives around the world.
The event is planned for 4 p.m., Saturday January 16, 2010 at Thousand Waves Martial Arts & Self-Defense Center, NFP. Thousand Waves is located at 1220 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago, and the event is free and open to the public.
As the founder of Living Well Ministries, Rev. Belile creates sacred spaces for transformation through spiritual life coaching, classes and retreats. She has led classes and retreats on wellness, LGBTQ spiritual journeys and forgiveness since 2002. Her local and long-distance coaching clients often focus on forgiveness in their work with her.
The Power of Forgiveness explores forgiveness through research, the vision of a Garden of Forgiveness at 9/11 Ground Zero, the personal experiences of children and the wisdom of many faith traditions.
