Meditate to Lower Blood Pressure, Relieve Insomnia
THURSDAY, 31 JANUARY 2008
Doctors suggest to practicing meditation to lower blood pressure, relieve insomnia or help people with asthma breathe better.
For those having a hard time starting to be focused and meditate, there is an all-day class on Saturdays held at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Arcadia. Husband and wife David and Kathy Bishop lead a weekly meditation group since 1997 and lately, they’ve offered annual meditation retreats.
Kathy gives her advice to beginners. “When you start, your mind is off every 10 seconds. Our society makes us think that way. I've done this for 11 years and now I have a lot more control."
The type of meditation Bishop follows is Easwaren which is taught by the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation in Tomales, California.
