Meditate During the Holidays
THURSDAY, 29 NOVEMBER 2007
The holiday season is here and aside from family reunions and visiting friends and loved ones, this season also means busy schedules, uptight shoppers, and disgruntled co-workers. To keep mentally healthy and physically fit during this season, here are a few meditation techniques.
- Find a quiet place. Reserve a time of day and look for a place where you will not be interrupted.
- Get comfortable. A seated posture is preferred as it promotes a more alert mental state.
- Get focused. Concentrate on a word or a phrase that should be repeated with each exhalation. For example, use “peace” or “relax”.
- Learn to breathe. This facilitates physical relaxation and bodily awareness. Your breathing should be calm and relaxed all the time.
