Annual Wild Goose Qigong Retreat
WEDNESDAY, 30 MAY 2007
The Wild Goose Qigong and meditation is a complete healing system. It is one of the most famous and widely practiced qigong systems in China today. It is well known for its lovely and graceful movements that suggest the image of an innocent and carefree wild goose. Wild Goose Qigong has many health benefits. Through better qi circulation and increased relaxation, it improves blood circulation and the immune function and develops deeper breathing and whole body coordination. It increases body and mind flexibility and improves cognitive function. It makes our body stronger, our mind sharper, and our mood happier. Classes are for all levels. Beginners are welcome!
Enjoy six hours of instruction each day, with three hours in the morning, a leisurely break, then return for three more hours with Dr. Hu in the afternoon. Sessions will begin at 10am on June 24, and conclude in the afternoon of the 28th.
The focus of this year’s retreat is on the essentials of Wild Goose Qigong and meditation. Along with practicing the gentle and graceful movements, you’ll be reminded from time to time of those basic principles in practicing Wild Goose, such as:
- Constant shifting of body weight for relaxation
- Basic movement-breathing coordination
- Awareness on certain acu-points for core stability & stretching-with-ease
- Using “center-periphery approach” to develop your agility
- Using “Empty steps” (xu-bu) & reverse abdominal breathing to increase flexibility.
- Using mantras and mudras for shifting of body weight, relaxation & stretching-with-ease.
