Color Meditation

Written by: ccarlos

Color Meditation In the fast-paced and goal-driven world that we live in today, it’s hard to keep focused. Instead of feeling carefree and tranquil, most people are stressed out, and they complain about distress and fatigue. One of the things people long for nowadays is a vacation, a break or a sense of peace even for just a few minutes. People want to relax, take their mind off things, meditate, and regain strength. As much as we want to meditate, not everyone has the ability and time to sit still long enough to reach a state of serenity. The longer and harder we try to keep still, the more it gets difficult for us to focus.

However, there are ways to achieve a sense of peace, taking into consideration the fast-paced and action-oriented lifestyle we have today. One of these methods is called Color Meditation.

The goal of this type of Meditation is to gain control over our moods during the day. By practicing this, we become more aware of our moods and the chakras at various times of the day. We can change our moods through Color Meditation. Here are the things to do in a Color Meditation session:
  1. Posture
Take note of your posture. Wear comfortable clothes and sit in the lotus or half-lotus position. Make sure your spine is straight and your head is balanced on top of your spine. Cup your right hand in your left palm with thumbs lightly touching. (Those with weak backs may sit in a comfortable armchair.) Make sure you can maintain your position for the entire Meditation session. Shift if necessary before going on. When you are comfortable, listen for the high ‘eee’ sound all around you to become more in tune with the Divine.

  2. Breath Control
Breathe from your diaphragm, drawing your stomach in and out. Do not lift the shoulders during breathing. Draw a breath inward (nine counts) and out (nine counts). Continue doing this for at least one full minute until Siva starts breathing for you.

  3. Heat of the Body
Feel the heat of the body from inside out. Feel the heat of your blood running through your veins and notice that your heat projects from your body at about one foot. Meditate on your vitality, your life.

  4. Energy of the Body
Feel the energy of the body running through your miles and miles of nerve endings. Feel it running up and down your fingers, toes, tongue, arms, neck, and spine.

  5. Power of the Spine
Feel the power running through the spine, from the base to the skull. This should make you feel very firm.

  6. Withdraw Energy to the Spine
On each in-breath, withdraw the energy of the nerve currents inward to the spine. On the out-breath, hold the energy in the spine. Focus on each of the five senses in turn. If there is a certain spot with excess energy, withdraw it inward with a breath until all is quiet and you are less aware of the outside world. In a few minutes, you should feel very calm and be looking inward.

  7. Color Meditation
Fill your entire body with the colors below, one at a time. Let them seep into your body and permeate your aura around your body, above, below, and all around.

    Blue: Peace, silence, comfort, stillness
Red: Vitality, life, warmth, strength, courage
    Yellow: Knowledge, wisdom, understanding
Green: Health, freshness, cool breeze, and beautiful forests

  8. Energizing the Body
Reverse the taking in of energy. On the in-breath, relax. On the out-breath, release all of the energy back into your nerves. Unleash your new, more balanced energy into your body. You should become more aware of your body and the things around you but remain still. Bask in this energy. You should feel refreshed and alive. You should have the confidence to maintain this balance throughout the rest of the day.

  9. Feel the Heat of the Body
Once again, feel the heat of the body permeating out into your aura. Feel the blood running through your tissues. Be aware of your beating heart.

  10. Breath Control
Focus once again on breathing patterns. Breathe in and out for a few minutes but do not change your breathing pattern. Just be aware of it.

  11. Sitting Position
Notice your sitting position. When the time is right, slowly stretch and open your eyes. Sit quietly until everyone has come out of Meditation. As a group, say the mantra “AUM” three times and then prostrate to God. Do not begin talking until you have all made eye contact with one another, signaling the end of the Meditation session.

That was easy, wasn’t it? The list looks long but when you actually do it, you’ll realize it's not that difficult. Give Color Meditation a try and achieve a sense of peace and tranquility.

From the earliest ages Eastern philosophers have associated indigo with the spiritual, or higher mind of man (the Causal Body).

Sounds have their distinguishing colors, hues, and tints.
Speech, which is sound in this physical world, echoes as color in the astral sphere around us and has its influence.

'ALL that exists, the whole visible Universe, is a manifestation of Force, of vibratory energy differentiated not by velocity alone but by form; and every form has its color, as also its tone, or sound.'

Divine Mind is always in motion like a ocean. It has currents like ocean currents.
The ocean has its inherent motion due to the tides, and also its superficial or wave motion due to external causes such as wind, etc. Divine Mind has Its motion, per se, which are the currents within It, and these currents are superficially modified by the thoughts of men.
There are innumberable currents but five of them are important.
These Cosmic currents vibrate red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. These are five colors of our first five Chakras.Their imagination and imbibement help in cleaning and rejunevation of each chakra, and helps us on the path of health, and virility, and in tune with the nature.
Let us therefore not oversimplify the importance and role of colors in our well or ill being,as has been done in the article.Wrong doing may cause harm.

Yogic science does not agree with those who make a study of pigments—artists and chemists—who consider blue, yellow and red as the primary colors, and that all the other colors are but modifications or bleedings of these primary ones.

Red is not a good color to imbibe. It is a low, disruptive, jagged vibration, and when it is drawn into a person it begins its disruptive work upon the physical body as well as the good creations which are repelled from his aura.Red currents lower the vibrations of the body and may make way for diseases.

Green too is not as good.In occult it is the current of indivdaulisation, and manfests desire for personal possessions, distinctions, and personal aggrandisement.

The benefit derived from surrounding yourself with a certain color or wearing it is, that the objective presence of the color aids greatly in visualizing it internally, and by thinking the color till it is vividly present to your mental consciousness, you connect yourself with the cosmic currents of that color and draw them to you to furnish the right substance for subconscious activity, which you by this means consciously direct.
