Catholic Meditation

Catholic Meditation Catholic Meditation is very different from other forms of Meditation. Instead of “quieting the mind” or removing too many thoughts in our heads, we meditate in the form of a prayer.

The word Meditation can mean a lot of things. In Catholic Meditation, we use our minds mentally to speak with God with any topic that we are concerned about. It can be done in any posture but it is best done while kneeling or sitting in a liturgical position.

There are four steps in practicing Catholic Meditation:

  1. Place yourself in God’s presence.
It is very important to bring to mind God’s presence when you are meditating. Take your time while doing this. Be aware that you are not alone and that God is with you, guiding and watching over you.

  2. Ask for God’s help.
If you are a practicing Catholic, you would know that asking for God’s help and believing that He will help you do wonders. Talk to him about your needs, desires and dreams, and know that He is always there to listen to you. You can also seek help to the Blessed Mother and to the saints. No matter whom you are seeking help for, pray intently and genuinely.

  3. Meditate.
This is where the actual Meditation comes in. Use your imagination. Picture a place, a feeling, or anything that will make your body and mind at peace. After doing so, be one with it. Place yourself in that situation. Imagine it as if it is actually happening.

  4. Give thanks to God.
Always give thanks to God for allowing you to feel His presence and be one with Him. Also thank all the people who have been part of your Meditation if there are any.
Sounds simple right? Catholic Meditation can be easily practiced by anyone, anywhere. In this practice, we make use of our thoughts, imaginations, desires, and emotions to talk to God in the form of a prayer. Being in God’s presence allows you to feel at peace with yourself and with everyone around you. Another difference of this type of Meditation is that we meditate on the importance and aspect of Christianity. We strongly believe of God’s presence in our lives and that He is always there for us as a source of peace and contentment in our lives.

When we pray, we speak to God. When we pray and meditate, we know that God is also speaking to us. Catholic Meditation helps us grow spiritually and live as stronger people.
