Does fasting help you focus more when meditating?

I think fasting and meditating is a two different thing. Some articles on the internet associate fasting with meditation but I don't think they have a direct relationship with one another. You can Fast and still you can meditate, you can also meditate without starving yourself. My advice is do as you prefer meditation varies from person to person. What calms you may not help in calming others who are also in meditation. Good Luck!

I agree with you mlisa. they are not really related or there is no connection so I think the other won't affect the existence or absence of the other. Just meditate and try to focus on what you are doing then it will be just fine.

thanks mlisa and sar8, I just thought that maybe if you're not that full then you'll gain more energy to concentrate.

You could meditate even if you have a full stomach but of course chances are that you cannot move as freely as possible. Fasting and meditations are indeed to different things. Each will work properly without the other. You will be fine even if you meditate without fasting.

I haven't gotten to the point where I can meditate on a full stomach because it almost always leads to me falling asleep. But from what I understand there can come a point where meditation is a way of life not just a time set aside in the day...just breathing, eating, walking, working, etc will all become meditations. I fast from time to time, when I'm cleansing my body. I do notice a difference...not to insinuate that one is better from the other but I do notice a different energy.

hello rukiyafaizah! may I ask how often do you fast? I'm quite interested since I think it'll somehow help me become healthier, if you could give me some tips I would gladly appreciate it.

Somehow, it kinda helps me focus more if i'm not that full. I compared
the feeling once, and I meditated right after I had my dinner, I had a
hard time concentrating since I got too conscious of the fact that I've
just eaten, besides I felt so bloated that time. that's why I guess
fasting could somehow help.

fasting is great - it has always worked for me in the past. in conjunction with meditation, i find that it gives clarity.

i agree with the common notion here, that fasting and meditation are two way different things. I suppose fasting helps some people meditate and focus more but its not mandatory for meditation :D

it's really you're call whether to fast before meditating, do what works for your body!

I tease her and tell her that she's near death and that's why she sees spirit. But actually, I don't like to have food in my stomach, because it's uncomfortable and you can't get deep into meditation when your body is busy digesting food. So, I like to allow a couple hours after eating before meditating.
