hmm.anyone of you planning to try Nude Meditation? or should I ask anyone of you ever tried Nude Meditation? well, I myself haven't tried it. haha. I don't know if I will but right now I don't think I can be able to focus in that situation since I will get too paranoid that someone is watching or peeking.

Me too. Haven't tried it yet. It must take a lot of focus and effort, as when you are nude you can feel almost anything that touches your skin or your body. I don't know if I can be able to stand it.

Namaste!

The word Meditation has become very popular nowadays. Everyone is doing Meditation! But it is not so easy to achieve the state of Meditation. Meditation is “Dhyana” in Sanskrit and seventh limb of Ashtanga Yoga. And it is said that one should go through all previous 6 limbs step by step before start Meditation or Dhyana. Actually what we are doing by the name of Meditation is different ways of Dharna or concentration techniques. However, this concentration techniques can lead us to the state of Meditation if we practise properly under expert's guidance. By the practice of all previous limbs or steps of Yoga one should learn about how to control ones behaviour, develop right attitudes towards the world around and towards oneself. Ideas about right diet for human being. How to sit in a comfortable in one posture for a long time without any trouble and how to increase the supply of ‘Prana’ in the body. How to get control over five senses organs and six enemies. All these steps one needs to practice under the guidance of an expert Yoga teacher to achieve the state of Meditation or Dhyana.

Now about the Nude Meditation, I can tell you the Yogis used to hold the state of Meditation without any cloth and some time without any food, water and breathe for a long long time in deep forest, in the cave of mountain in India and south East Asia. As they used to live in the forest or in the cave of mountain they didn’t need to wear cloths. Still today many Yogis are there in this world they are living their life through the same way. They don’t meet people and don’t think about the modern world. As we are living in a society with a family we need to wear cloth. But Meditation should be practiced alone in a lonely place without any disturbance. Place is very important in Meditation to achieve. So nobody will be there to see or disturb, whether wearing cloth or nude. If one can prepare his/her mind and body through the ways fro the beginning then can practice Meditation without cloth.

But for Dharna or concentration practice at home or in a public place should not practice without cloth.

Thanks

Meditation is not just a question of posture, situation or what to wear.  Meditation techniques can be practised anywhere, but for real effect then read the words of the Bhagavad Gita Chap 6 - `The yogi should find a clean spot - - - sit with spine, neck and head in a straight line`.  As to what to wear just make sure there is no constriction.  If it is cool throw a shawl around your body.  Natural fibres are best.

I sometimes meditate naked - it seems the most natural state to be, especially when outdoors.  I meditate on the feeling of the sun or the breeze on my skin - being naked makes me feel at one with nature.

It's also good for yoga - one should always wear loose clothes but, if its warm enough, being without clothes is even better.

I only do this alone (although as its the natural state, I would have no problem doing it in company (assuming others also see it as natural rather than anything else).

Would be interested t hear from others who have also tried meditating naked

A very large number of persons remain in meditative state, without technically knowing that they are so.Meditation means being, not doing. If someone is there physically,mentally,emotionally,spiritually,he/she is meditating.
Unfotunately, the commercialisation of the concept, and the(meditation)teaching shops opened by every Tom,Dick, and Harry has made us believe that only the one who sits and closes eyes is meditating.Far from it.If,for example, a housewife is fully immersed in her kichen work, fully aware of her existence, surroundings and work, she is in a meditative state. It is a state of mind and spirit, reached with comlete devotion and surrender.Rest of the ingradients are not as important.Soldiers in Indian, and japanese armed forces are taught meditation. It is to reach that state, not for sitting and doing it on the battle field! But if these self-proclaimed teachers tell this, how will they earn their livelihood?
Meditation is meditation. There are different techniques to learn the same art.But the self-proclaimed Gurus have started calling, different techniques as different kinds of meditation.
Less said of the fraud and deceit prevalent in the name of this sacred path to silence and salvation the better.
