Would leaning against a wall be fine when meditating? I meditate using a cushion on a lotus position, there are times when I feel like I'm about to fall on my back so would it be okay if I lean on a wall for support? Please advice, thanks a lot.

yep it's perfectly fine, just be sure you won't fall asleep while leaning against a wall. =)

actually I'm really not too sure, I try to analyze what's been happening to prevent it. So i guess i'll just try and lean against a wall the next time I meditate.

I suggest you try focusing harder, you might be thinking a lot of things that's why you tend to space out.

Try not to think of anything else while you meditate. Not thinking is the whole purpose of meditation just focus with yourself and relax. If you are sleepy then postpone your meditation because sleeping would defeat the purpose of meditating. You cannot be in contact with your inner self if you are literally drowsing off every minuet.

Just keep your mind off things which can disturb you. Even the fact that you are sleepy could make ou loose your concentration. Meditatipn is a form of relaxiation and of course not the same as sleeping. I think what you should do is choose the best time for you to meditate. If you feel like you cannot really do it then do it another time when you are more concentrated to do it.

The about to fall feeling happens when you get so engrossed with the meditation itself. i felt it once and I think that's the time when I was really concentrated and I felt like that was the height of it all. When it comes to falling asleep while in meditation, that's a different story. Maybe you are tired or sleepy and you can't really meditate in that state.

Maybe you are just too sleepy. meditation is not a way to find sleep. Remember that in meditating you should feel the process running within your body. Maybe try you should try to get rid of your sleepiness first. Get some sleep and do meditation when you are not that sleepy anymore.

Are you feeling like you're going to fall on your back because it hurts or because you're sleepy? If it hurts then leaning on wall would help to give you support. If you're sleepy then I don't see how leaning on a wall would help.
