Do you use music while meditating? I'm thinking of playing some music the next time i meditate, do you think it'll be helpful?

hi, there are free meditation music downloads available online, I suggest you try it and see for yourself if it's effective for meditation. As for me I only use the guided meditation audio but i haven't tried using meditation music, maybe one of these days. I'll let you know right away if it's helpful to me!

It varies from person to person. I do use music while meditating because i become more focus and I feel like everything is bright around me whenever I close my eyes and starts to meditate. The sound really calms me. Try it once and if you feel like you become more disturb when there are background music while meditation that's the time when you meditate without sounds. One piece of advice though nusic use in meditation should not be so loud, look for accompaniments only. There are sound effects like running water, flowing river and rain forest effects. This Sounds can relax you better than any other sounds.

Hi Fran!.. I think it will just be a matter of personal preference, whether you want to play music while meditating or just a plain silence while meditating. I am not an expert on this but I have tried meditating with music, and for me it really helps me relax.

like its already been said, i guess meditating with music is personal preference, but my preference is without music, i kind of find it distracting, mostly because i do zazen and the main goal of that is to enter a state of no ego, and well music doesnt help, try looking it up, it really clears your mind

I found that music was distracting to me. However, as a beginner I found that using headphones and listening to binaural beats helped me block out distractions and meditate more easily. If you are wondering, binaural beats are a form of brainwave entrainment. Meditation is personal - these types of downloads help some but may not help others.
